Q. Can I receive an assessment of my potential for admission?

A. No. Only complete applications are reviewed by the admissions committee.

Q. Can I submit supplemental application materials after December 1?

A. Letters of recommendation and test scores are accepted after the deadline, but we ask that materials are submitted on time so the admissions committee can review complete applications starting early January. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that all the materials reach the program on time for review.

Q. Can I apply to more than one Berkeley graduate program?

A. No. UC Berkeley accepts only one application per admissions cycle. Students who apply to more than one program will be disqualified.

Q. What is the latest date I can take the GRE without jeopardizing the application deadline?

A. Candidates should plan to take all standardized tests by November of the year they apply, at the latest.

Q. Does Neuroscience accept the MCAT instead of the GRE?

A. No.

Q. What are the GPA's of successful applicants?

A. Admitted students typically have GPA's in the 3.0 to 4.0 range. Please bear in mind that GPA's are only one measure of a candidate's potential. The admissions committee considers the entire applicant file.

Q. What are the test scores of successful applicants?

A. Students admitted to Neuroscience typically have scored in the 80th percentile at least. Please bear in mind the GRE is only one measure of a candidate's potential. The admissions committee considers the entire applicant file.

Q. Can I get an exemption from the TOEFL?

A. Not unless you’ve finished at least one year of study in an English-speaking University. Taking the TOEFL and getting a passing score is a University Requirement.

Q. Can the application fee be waived?
