Evan Rauch (1966-1996) was a Regents/Chancellor Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated in zoology. Evan was dyslexic, and he had a passion for helping children with learning differences. For six years he taught at Peninsula School in Menlo Park. Evan died on April 13, 1996, following a car accident. His family has endowed a professorship in Evan's name, to help with research in neuroscience. In this way, Evan's spirit can continue to help people. Professor Robert Knight is the Evan Rauch Professor of Neuroscience and the director of the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute. Professor Knight and his team of researchers are working to discover how the brain controls behavior and to gain a better understanding of the biological roots of neurological disorders.
