Travel Grants
Neuroscience graduate students are strongly encouraged to attend professional/academic meetings, workshops, and conferences for opportunities to present their work, meet fellow scientists, and learn about new research.
The Graduate Affairs Office provides up to $700 travel funds for first year students. Students should contact the GAO to access these funds prior to the event. Starting with the second year, thesis mentors usually continue providing funds for travel to professional/academic events.
UC Berkeley's Graduate Division also provides awards allowing students to attend professional conferences where they are presenting papers. Qualified applicants must be in the final stages of their graduate work. For additional information and the application form, link to: Graduate Division Fellowship
The UC Berkeley Graduate Assembly sponsors a travel grant program funding attendance at conferences outside the Bay Area. Students may apply for a one-time annual award of either $300 (for presenters), or $150 (for non-presenters). Grantees are selected by lottery. For more information, please see the Graduate Assembly.
