Kevin Weiner, associate professor of neuroscience and psychology, is working with UC Berkeley psychology professor Mark D’Esposito on a project launched by D’Esposito and colleagues aimed at optimizing brain health by studying how to scientifically measure and improve it. The longitudinal study is based out of the Center for BrainHealth at the University of Texas-Dallas, and it will assess measures of brain health in individuals over the long term and investigate the effectiveness of interventions to improve it.
Weiner studies human brain anatomy, how it changes with age, and how it could be used as a measure of brain health, building in part on his collaborations with fellow UC Berkeley faculty members William Jagust, a professor of neuroscience who studies brain aging and dementia, and psychology professor Silvia Bunge.
