Berkeley Neuroscience is the nexus for campus-wide multidisciplinary neuroscience research. Our research community includes over 60 faculty members in 12 academic departments. This unique multi-departmental structure encourages significant collaborations between neuroscientists and members of Berkeley’s world leading programs in engineering, chemistry, statistics, and computation. Berkeley Neuroscience coordinates major research initiatives, supports leading-edge research and technology centers, and runs the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute PhD Program.

A Multidisciplinary Approach to Neuroscience

Berkeley Neuroscience harnesses the unique strengths in UC Berkeley’s world leading programs in engineering, chemistry, biology, psychology, statistics and computation to build next-generation experimental, analytical and theoretical approaches to probe neuronal function. Below is an interactive visualization of the 12 departments that house Berkeley Neuroscience faculty. Members of Berkeley Neuroscience are indicated in orange. Frequent collaborators are also listed.
